The Excellence & Advancement Foundation is pleased to partner with Huston-Tillotson University to present Coding for Social Justice. This program will bring 10 high school students to HT’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation for a three-day program taught by Huston-Tillotson faculty and staff. Activities will entail hands-on learning with laptop and tablet devices.
The overall goal for Huston-Tillotson, serving as a Center on Innovation in the HBCU C2 Initiative is to serve as community leaders and advocate and for coding and creativity learning experiences for underserved and untapped populations. In partnership with EAF, the intention is to build program capacity and scale and create academic pathways and demonstrate a commitment to C2 {Coding + Creativity} programming.
Specific goals of the program:
- Gain understanding of Apple devices and operating systems
- Develop or improve computer programming skills
- Learn app design principles
- Improve positive racial and gender identities
- Increase self-efficacy in leadership, collaboration, and communication skills
Participants will receive a $200 stipend for attending the entire program.
